Trayvon Martin & Emmett Till

The death of Emmett Till brought sadness to many people. He was innocent and he was only fourteen. By flirting with an older woman we shouldn't have gotten tortured. This might or might not be a racist murder, but since he's only fourteen, and the civil rights movement was going on, it was believed that the murderers were racist.
The deatth of Trayvon Martin was just a casual murder. Supposedly, The cop had said that trayvon assaulted him, so he shot him. At first, the cop said that he looked suspicious and that he had a hood, and it looked like he had something in his pocket.

Persepolis Blog 1

This story is about a ten year old girl that wants to become a prophet when she grows up. She thinks very mature for her age, and she has a lot of questions. One of the questions being, 'why do women have to wear a veil'. All the young girls about her age were upset, and wondered why they had to wear it. It became a law because of the revolution. Their new leader thought not wearing a veil and disorganization would symbolize decadence. Marjane wants to become a prophet because god tells her, and encourages her to become a prophet; a leader. Since then, Marjane is interested in the revolution and how it works. Although people discourage her about becoming a prophet, she doesn't let herself down. She is very strong in her words, she is very curious, and  she will do all she can to get the world to be in full peace.

Six Word Memoir (Final)

Keep Going, And Don't Look Back
Image Detail

I like this phrase because I learned that this is very important. When you do something, do it with strength, and don't look back or regret anything you do. If you're unsure, don't do it. This speaks to me becuase I play volleyball, and I never quit on my team no matter what. Even if we're losing by twenty points, and the other team needs one more point to win, I'm still not quitting. I'd rather lose and try, then win and let my team do all the work. Once you're into something, do the best you can. If someone forces you to do something you don't like, you can still try your hardest. Something I say to myself is, if I'm going to spend my time doing something I don't like, might as well do my best at it. I picked this picture because the guy in the picture is looking back, which means he's insecure about what he's doing. I'm trying my best to not look back on anything I do.

Whale Rider Review

Pai was a young girl living in a modern tribe called Whangara in the east coast of New Zealand. The people believed that a whale saved their ancestor, Paikea, from drowning. Since then, the men have become the leaders of the tribe. Even though she's a girl, Pai posseses the leadership and strength of a boy. Her grandfather is mad because he doesn't want a girl to be the leader. Pai is a very nice, innocent girl. Actor, Keisha Castle-Hughes plays Pai's role, and does an outstanding job. The movie overall, is very emotional and with Keisha's acting skills, the movie is well done. The whales symbolize their life. A whale helped their tribe continue in life, so if a whale dies, they become very sad because the whales brought them to land. When Pai helped the whale get up, her grandfather finally accepted her because she payed the whales back for helping their tribe. The ending symbolized the tribe working as a group. This was a great film, and I would reccommend for anyone to watch it.
